AZTEC CALENDAR MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY VISIT ALSO www.colegiodeprofesores.com Welcome students from Mexico as well as students from all over the world to our website. Teachers College Mexico City was established in 1990. In the year 2000 it began offering its Certifications, Associate Degrees and Masters Degree in TESOL and in Applied Linguistics through 100% distance learning academic programs. Every year more than 100 students graduate from our academic programs. Our students are from all over Mexico as well as from the US, Canada, Europe, Central and South America. We have a few students from Australia, India, Japan, China, and Africa. All students who wish to teach English as a second language or who are already teaching English are warmly welcomed. AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH For hundreds of years the general belief was that higher education could be obtained exclusively by attending classes at a college or a university. Today more and more educators acknowledge that what you learn outside the classroom is just as valuable and often times more useful and more practical than much of what you learn in school. Experts in the fields of education, business and industry have come to realize that what you learn on the job, what you learn through independent studying and reading and what you learn through distance learning degree programs is just as worthy of credit and recognition. The world is changing at the greatest pace in all of human history and the need to embrace these changes is our responsibility as educators. Teachers College was the first institution in Mexico to recognize the need for distance learning training and development for teachers of English as a Second or Other language. Most of our students are adults already working full time or part time in their career field. Others are young or mature adults who wish to enter the field of education and to focus primarily on TESOL, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. On-campus classes are not required and there is no need to interrupt present career or employment. Students enrolled in the Associate Degrees and the Masters Degree in TESOL Programs are given assignments for the entire semester and at the end of this period, they hand in their assignments and projects. Students who require their Teachers Diploma can obtain it in as short as a 6-week period. Our Degree Programs are designed to meet the educational needs of students whose responsibilities make it difficult to attend on-site lectures and other commonly-required academic activities. Students at the College study at their own pace and in their free time in the privacy and comfort of their home or office. The innovative nature of our academic programs provides students with ample opportunity for reaching their maximum potential through creativity and critical thinking, an inherent and vital part of the educational process. Distance-learning differs from traditional methods, but standards of quality are permanent. They do not change, and if they happen to change, they change for the better. The curriculum at Teachers College Mexico City is designed by qualified professionals who focus on learning outcomes for a student population who is increasingly more diverse and multi-cultural. Students at Teachers College who live in Mexico also find it very rewarding to study 100% in English. The precept that learning should be both challenging and enjoyable is fundamental at Teachers College while instilling the value of discipline and responsibility.
